A practical alternative to another trip

A mobile appointment brings the notary to an agreed location. Meet at home, at work or another suitable place where you have permission to meet, a table for the paperwork and enough privacy to handle it. Hoboken and nearby Hudson County communities form the core service area, with selected Bergen County visits by arrangement.

How the visit works

  • Before booking: share the location, preferred time, document type, number of signers and recipient instructions.
  • Before travel: confirm the appointment, witness arrangements, access instructions and itemized total.
  • At the meeting: each person participating in the notarial act appears before the notary and establishes identity. The notary follows the required acknowledgment, oath, affirmation or signing procedure.
  • To finish: the notary completes the certificate and required notarial record. Follow the recipient’s separate instructions for delivering or filing the document.

What to have ready

Bring the whole document and any attachments. Keep the recipient’s instructions with it. Have acceptable identification available and tell us beforehand if it is missing or expired. If witnesses are required, agree on who will provide them; they are not automatically included.

Same-day, evening and weekend requests

Tell us the actual time and location you need. These appointments may be available, but a request is not a booking. Wait for confirmation before arranging travel or gathering signers. For care settings, coordinate facility access first and read the hospital appointment guide.

What mobile notarization does—and does not—cover

The service described here is a physical visit. New Jersey allows certain remote acts only when separate legal and technology requirements are met; a video call alone does not qualify. Ask about any electronic requirement before booking.

Notarization is not legal advice, document preparation or a promise that a recipient will accept a document. The notary must be satisfied that the requirements of the act can be met at the appointment.

Know the cost in advance

The mobile convenience charge covers travel to the agreed meeting location. It is quoted and agreed separately before travel. It is not a charge for the notarial act and does not increase New Jersey’s notarial fees.

Ask for the notarial fees and the separately quoted mobile convenience charge and any other agreed services to be itemized. Read the fee and quote guide →
