FEES & APPOINTMENT PLANNING

Notary fees & your mobile visit quote.

Understand the state’s notarial charges, then confirm a clear quote for your location and appointment.

A calculator and paperwork for an itemized appointment quote

Confirm the total before you book

Tell us the town, meeting location, preferred time, document type and number of signers. Ask for an itemized quote showing the notarial acts and the separately quoted mobile convenience charge and any other agreed services. A state notarial fee and the total cost of a mobile visit are different things.

The mobile convenience charge varies with the agreed visit and is confirmed in advance. Ask for a written breakdown of the total and payment arrangements before booking.

Mobile convenience service

The mobile convenience charge covers travel to the agreed meeting location. It is quoted and agreed separately before travel. It is not a charge for the notarial act and does not increase New Jersey’s notarial fees.

Any notarial fee will be identified separately in your quote and must follow the applicable state schedule. A mobile visit price should never be described as the charge for a stamp or signature.

Cancellation fee: $99.99

Our cancellation fee is $99.99. Confirm when it applies before accepting an appointment. This is the business’s appointment cancellation charge, not a state-set notarial fee.

Ask how to cancel or reschedule and which cancellation terms apply to your appointment. A booking inquiry alone does not reserve a visit.

New Jersey’s published notarial fees

Chapter 11 of the NJ Notary Public Manual lists the following fees for the acts described. These are not mobile visit prices or a statement that every appointment includes each charge. The real-estate amounts apply to the specified acts and parties in a single transaction; they are not prices for a complete closing service.

Notarial service described by the statePublished fee
Administering an oath, taking an affidavit, taking proof of a deed, or taking an acknowledgment.$2.50 per act
Those listed acts for grantors in a single transaction transferring real estate, regardless of the number of those services.$15 per transaction
Administering oaths, taking affidavits or acknowledgments for mortgagors in a single real-estate financing transaction, regardless of the number of those services.$25 per transaction

“Per act” does not mean every page or every signature automatically attracts the same charge. Identify the acts needed and ask how the applicable state fee was calculated. The state schedule does not establish or endorse this business’s mobile convenience or cancellation charges.

What an appointment quote should make clear

  • The requested notarial act or acts and their charges
  • The separately quoted mobile convenience charge for travel to your location
  • The number of signers, documents and the agreed meeting location
  • Whether printing, witnesses, return delivery or any other requested work is actually included
  • The total, payment arrangements, and what happens if you cancel or the act cannot be completed

Printing, courier work, witnesses and a full loan-closing service are not automatically included in a general notary visit. Confirm any additional scope before booking.

If a notarization cannot be completed

No notarial fee is due for an act that is not performed. Before travel, confirm whether the separately agreed mobile convenience charge would still apply if identity, document, witness or participation requirements cannot be met. A cancellation charge and a completed visit are different situations; confirm the applicable terms in advance.

A useful question to ask

“What is the itemized total for this appointment, including the notarial acts, travel and any other agreed charges? What would be payable if the document cannot be notarized?”

Having the document, instructions and identification ready helps avoid a visit that cannot be completed.
